The Matterhorn, from 2,222 metres
Riffelalp sits above the village rather than in it, which is the whole reason to stay. Once the last train has gone down, the mountain is quiet and the Matterhorn is yours. Days are for the slopes or the trails; evenings for the high-altitude spa and a view few hotels in the Alps can match.
It is part of the charm: you ride the Gornergrat railway up from Zermatt. We arrange luggage so you travel light.
Skiers, walkers and anyone who wants the Matterhorn without the village crowds. Travellers who want Zermatt's restaurants on the doorstep may prefer a stay in town, with a night or two up here.
